An Unforgettable Experience: Live from LEGO Headquarters with Walmart

I hope this newsletter finds you well. I'm incredibly excited to share some news with you about an amazing experience we’ve just had.

Last week, we took a remarkable trip to Enfield, CT, where we had the fantastic opportunity to shoot a shoppable live stream at the vibrant LEGO headquarters for Walmart (see the link to the final video at the bottom of this email). We were thrilled to discover the magic behind each LEGO brick and to bring that experience directly to your screens.

From the moment we stepped into the LEGO headquarters, we were instantly transported into a world of creativity, innovation, and endless possibilities. Each corner was filled with iconic LEGO sets and spectacular creations that left us awe-struck. It was like stepping into a child’s wildest dreams but for adults.

The main event, of course, was the shoppable live stream. We had our cameras ready and our spirits high as we dived into the exhilarating world of LEGO, showcasing the wide array of products available on Walmart.

We brought the entire live setup to LEGO headquarters and set it up inside their building with multiple cameras, lighting, a live switcher, and Vmix.

The Tech

Atomos AtomX CAST

The AtomX CAST is the switcher we used for our LEGO & Walmart livestream. Because I have an Atomos Ninja V as my go-to on-camera monitor, the AtomX CAST was appealing choice because of the pricepoint and ease of use.

Live Video Streaming Software | vMix

To stream the show we utilized vMix, an extremely powerful live switching and graphics platform. We used this in conjunction with the Atomos AtomX CAST as our main hardware switcher. vMix was downstream from the camera inputs and was used to toss to clips, fly in graphics, and run the show.

Aputure Amaran P60c Kit

This lighting kit acted as the main key, fill, and background light for the stream. It's a small 3-light LED kit with a full spectrum of colors. The kit includes modifiers that I used to create a small softbox with a grid. The background was illuminated with one of these bad boys set to a yellow color to accent the color of the wall itself.

Amaran T2c

These little tube lights were used as backlights for the stream. They are a perfect backlight as they are extremely light without the added battery, and they are easily mountable using scissor clips and drop down mounts.
